Nanotechnology & Semiconductors (SI)
This initiative has a double purpose. First, it has a multidisciplinary research group with extensive experience in science and engineering that addresses problem solutions based on nanotechnology. The group is a transversal technological enabler that amplifies the impact of our applied research cores in Health, Climate and Sustainability, and Industrial Transformation. The research group also addresses fundamental science in Nanotechnology. Second, the initiative seeks to promote the evolution of the semiconductor industry in Mexico, for which it develops training programs and university-industry-government linkage activities in Semiconductors. These efforts are aimed not only to align education with industry needs but also to foster research and entrepreneurship in key areas. The research group works in some specific niches of the semiconductor industry.

Dr. Sergio Omar Martínez
Sergio O. Martínez obtained his PhD from the INP Grenoble in 2002, with a thesis in MEMS technology. He is currently a professor at the School of Engineering and Sciences, leader of the Nanotechnology and Semiconductors Initiative, and leader of the Tec.Nano project aimed at building a Nanotechnology Core-Lab in the Institute. He is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and the National System of Researchers. His research focuses on sensors and microfluidics devices with applications in health and environmental monitoring.
